What is a sailing yacht?
The word yacht originates back to the mid 16th century from the Dutch word ‘jaghte’ or ‘jaghtschip’ (fast pirate ship), jaght meaning hunting and schip meaning ship. Today, the word ‘yacht’ covers a wide range of vessels run by either power, sail or both. A sailing yacht is a sail-assisted motor yacht.
Sailing yachts now have increasingly stable hulls, clear and spacious decking, simplified maneuvering and top of the range equipment and interiors. The sailing yacht is desirable uniting simplicity and performance in all weathers and latitudes. They are safe and energy efficient.
